What exactly does ETI produce?
ETI gravure prints decorative type designs onto a silicone coated paper carrier. We ship this in rolls from 1" to 63" wide and from 750 meters to 2,000 meters long. The designs are printed with high quality organic vinyl pigments designed to transfer and adhere to thermoplastic substrates. The designs are transferred either on-line or off-line via a heated nip roller.
How much do I have to buy at any one time?
Our minimum order is the equivalent to 2,000 meters of transfer paper 63" wide. We occasionally do smaller runs to help new customers get started but not on an ongoing basis.
Can I get samples made of an ETI design on our product?
Yes! We can do a sample transfer for you onto any thermoplastic substrate you send to us to insure that the material is suitable for our process. If it works well, we can then work with you on developing larger prototypes of specific designs in specific color combinations. We also have the ability to emboss most substrates to give it a more finished appearance.
Are there designs available that I can use?
In conjunction with out sister company TransprintUSA, we maintain a library of decorative designs that numbers in the thousands. Hundreds of new designs are added yearly.
If I use one of your designs can I confine it to my market?
Yes! We work with all of our customers on confinements that protect them from direct competitors. We can discuss the details with you once a design is selected.
What if I want to do my own design?
We can engrave your original design as long as you can provide it to us in a vertical repeat size 27" or smaller. There is an additional charge for custom engravings based on the complexity of the design.
How many colors can you print in a design?
We can print up to 8 cylinders for any one design. Each cylinder can be one solid color or can be tones of a color thereby multiplying the color effects. We can also print 4-color process designs but most of our engravings are designed for multiple color combinations.
Why is your printing superior to direct printing on plastic?
We print with the finest gravure engravings available in very tight registration on the perfect print substrate - paper. With direct printing sacrifices have to be made many times because of the comparatively rough surface and the stretchability of the substrate. Many times we are the only practical way to decorate a plastic product on-line.
Can you transfer to molded products?
Because we use a paper carrier our product works best on flat substrates which are then formed or embossed after the transfer takes place. Some profiles may be possible which we would have to explore on a case by case basis.
Are your transfers durable?
Our transfers become part of the plastic and can be stretched or formed without splitting. They will also stand up to normal abrasion resistance. For heavy abrasion a topcoat after printing is recommended. We also use pigments that are rated to be lightfast at least 500 hours. It is also resistant to normal washing and cleaning. Today, our printing is used in blinds which hang in windows and outdoor pool furniture without any post treatments.
Do you stock transfer paper on any designs?
We have minimal stock just for our sampling purposes. All of our printing is custom work per order.
Do you have a catalog of designs?
Because our design library is changed so frequently to keep it current, it is not practical to print a catalog. We welcome you to visit our showrooms or to let us know if there is a specific type of design that you are looking for. As discussed on these pages we are very adept at prototyping sample designs for you.
How much does your printing cost?
It is a range of prices based on the size of the print run and how many cylinders are used to print the design. Please feel free to contact us for more details.
